couldn't the
2nd Elizabeth mentioned by Henry be the Elizabeth Wyche m Henry
Caytor in
Virginia?
Hi again Cynthia!
I don't know if you got the mail from the list last week with your
computer problems & all, but that was my very first thought! I double
checked some info here & found a will index of Surry Co. listing
Elizabeth & Henry CATON - I still can't find what I wrote it on,
though! I believe Henry's was 1790. I don't have access to the actual
wills, but the Family History Center here finally opens tomorrow
(they're only open Tues. - Thurs.) & I'm ordering the film it's on. I
want to just look at it to make sure they are indeed CATON & if there
are children listed.
I also added the tax list info to the KY CATO pages & when I did, I
noticed a pattern (also noticed when I double-checked that I had missed
2 listings, Henry Cato 1811 - 1,0,0,0,1,- & a Richard Cate 1811
1,0,0,0,1,-.
I'm not sure what to think of the Henry in KY yet, but after finding
that index in Surry Co., I'm leaning again toward him being John's
son.
Just to jog my memory & to see it in print again (in hopes that it may
nudge something in my brain!) here's my updated version of Henry's
timeline (note! The >> arrows are where Henry sells, the << are where
Henry gets land):

no more mentions of Henry in SC
Do you have a copy of the 1787 deed to John LOVE? If so, how much land
is mentioned? Same with the 1792 DEASON deed! Looks like the land
Henry buys (mostly early on) = 1040 ac. The land he sells later = 552 +
whatever DEASON & LOVE buy.
