Just want to say that all of you Cato researchers are doing great, keep up
the good work. One day you are going to find my Susannah!!! Just know you
will, she did exist; and I believe her to be related to Emiline who
m-Lumbar May in Washington Co., GA about the same time that Susannah and
Reuben May married. Emily and Lumbar had a son named Reuben who died, so
someone said, young and unmarried.

I just had an antiquarian bookseller who had visited the CATO page
contact me who has a 1st & only edition of the book, "Roach, Roberts &
Ridgeway" for $105. It's cover is robin's egg blue marbled cloth with
faded gold gilt printing on it. Although I'd LOVE to have it, finances
don't allow it right now so I thought I'd let the list know in case
someone else does. If interested, e-mail me & I'll forward you the
e-mail I got.
Thanks,
Bonnie

Hi Cuz!
Cynthia had just written me questioning the same thing. It might
finally explain the Henry CATOR who got married in Sussex Co., VA (do I
have the county right there? I don't have it in front of me.). I
definately at this point do *not* think we should dismiss the idea. The
exact things you mention really bug me, too. Have you pulled the
originals on on the Christian Co. tax rolls you sent me? I've just seen
what looks like the abstracts - is that all there was? Are there later
ones that weren't in what you sent?
Bonnie

I'm forwarding this note from Joan that was bounced:
Hi everyone,
The recent flurry of discussion of Needham Cato has me just a little
confused. Please set me straight. Ya'all are not talking about my
Needham who is a son of Henry and Tabitha Cato. My Needham died in
Lancaster Co. (or Kershaw Co.) SC about 1831, if memory serves me
correctly (I'm at work).

Note from Bonnie: I'm adding a quick reply to this also! The Needham in
KY - "my" (!) Needham - is the son of Sterling, brother of the Needham
in SC (& hence grandson of Henry/Tabitha). At one time I thought "my"
Needham was the Needham Jr., son of Nathan Sr. of SC, but apparently
both Needham Jr. & Sr. stayed in SC.
What had originally confused me was that both Needham's (mine & the one
in SC) had a son named Amos, my g-g-grandfather's name, along with
another couple of children's names in common! It really had me going
when a James CATO went to court to say Needham had died in Feb. of that
year since James in AR (via KY & MO) & brother Needham (via same places)
had apparently been close!

I *REALLY* think we should look more closely at Henry CAYTOR who m.
Elizabeth WYCHE. The WYCHE genealogy is as follows (abbreviated):
Henry WYCHE (generation I), d. 1714 in Surry Co., VA. Of children, 2
sons were Henry & George.
Henry (Generation II) moves to Brunswick Co. & is apparently close to
the CATO/CATER family there as seen by wills, deeds, etc.
George (also Generation II) dies 1753 & leaves his son Peter land he
owned on *Fountains Creek*. George WYCHE also signed the approval on
the estate of Sam'l CLARK, Jane COOKE's grandfather (the same will that
John CATER witnessed) so it would seem that George lived in Brunswick
Co. for some time by brother Henry & on Fountains Creek.
George's son Benjamin (generation III) d. before 1769 & his widow,
Elizabeth PEETE-WYCHE, is the one who married Henry CAYTOR in 1775. At
this time she had young children still living at home as shown by their
dates of birth, the oldest child b. 1759 & the rest in the 1760s.
Later,
Bonnie
