Cynthia,
Finding William's land on a branch off of Fountains Ck. is not
surprising to me in fact it proved what I have been suspecting. That
there was two Williams is helpful because I have had three Williams
In SC and Ga. and only 2 fathers. Now I have 3 for 3. I just don't
which one belongs to who. However I think the William who married
Susan Eccles Cato was probably a son of Frances who was a son of the
older Stephen from the names of his children. Then we have the 2
William Catos who went to Ga., one was was probably son of William of
Northampton Co. and the other was probably son of Stephen Jr.
You know that Henry was in NC when John and Jane gave him land in
1769. I bet he was just over the line in Northampton Co. at the time.
He seemed to be in Brunswick Co. when he sold the land to Drury Cook
in 1771. This when I think he left the area. If this so then he would
not be on Drowning Creek in 1765 when Burrell was born. However just
because we have not found Henry Cato on Drowning Ck does not mean
Henry is not his father. After all, we have not found any Cato on
Drowning Ck. Mrs. Fair seemed to indicate she did but she did leave
us with her evidence.
This Book " SC Memorials of Land Titles 1774-1776" with reference to
Granville Co. has me confused since there is no Granville Co., SC. Is
this not NC Memorials.
Well, I look forward to more reports.
Henry
