Cynthia -
Have you checked the Pulaski records?
Some early Catos were there - also Conway County was formed from part of Pulaski if I
remember.
Sorry - do not have time to help more right now.
Vance
Two records I haven't seen before:
1. Arkansas Gazette. Tuesday July 24, 1827. Vol. VIII, No. 30.
"A List of Delinquents owing Territorial and County Taxes in the County of
Conway in the Territory of Arkansas for Year 1826"
Listed, among others: "Startin Cato"
I did not realize that "Startin Cato" (surely this is Starling/Sterling Cato)
was in Conway County, Arkansas, this early, and wonder which (if either)
Starling this is, the Starling
age 80-90 who turns up on the 1830 Madison County Missouri census, or the
Starling age 30-40 on the 1830 Wayne County Missouri census.
I also wonder what exactly "Startin Cato" owed taxes on? I haven't found
any
land under this name in Conway County Arkansas in 1826.
2. Arkansas Gazette. Tuesday evening July 5, 1825. Vol VI, No. 27.
"List of Letters at Post Office at Little Rock, Arkansas Territory on 1st July
1825"
Listed, among others: " James Cato"
