I just got back from Bastrop, Texas, & spoke with a very nice gentleman
there who wants me to post a query for him:
Looking for any info on Octavia CATO, b. ca 1822 or Lydia CATO, b. ca
1823-27. Both were in Union Co., Ark. after 1840 & we're assuming in
Copiah Co., MS, previous to this. The reason we're assuming Copiah Co.,
MS is because Hezekiah BISHOP is listed as "guardian" for Lydia (also
referred to as Elidia in one document) & since Hezekiah BISHOP didn't
move to AR until ca 1841 (the year she married), we're assuming she was
with him in MS, along with sister Octavia to whom Hezekiah was also a
guardian to. Wm. M. BISHOP m. Octavia & Joseph BISHOP m. Lydia in AR.
Also a Wm. C. BISHOP is listed as m. Eliza Ann CATE in Union Co., AR, &
this may be a CATO instead. The ancestor to these BISHOPs is Wm. Bucner
BISHOP, b. 1768 in SC, who married Sarah Ann RUNNELs ca 1775 possibly in
Wilkes Co., GA, although no record of their marraige has been found
yet. Sarah was dau. of Dudley RUNNELS (the name later became REYNOLDs)
The 1840 Copiah Co., MS census shows:
H.W.BISHOP 121111001 142311 (Octavia & Lydia are 2 of the 3 listed
females in the 15-20 age range we're assuming at this point).
Hezekiah's father was also in Lawrence Co., MS with James MILLICAN as
shown by church records, and then both of these people were then in
Copiah Co. James MILLICAN also figures in the family in AR. The
PUCKETT family is also involved in this line. Some of the family also
went into Louisiana.
Is anyone else researching this line that could help Dr. Walker with
this line? Has anyone pulled the Copiah Co. records yet? He's not on
the internet, but I'll be happy to provide his snail mail address to
anyone who could help or forward any e-mails to him.
Thanks,
Bonnie
