On 8-28-97 I went to Bollinger Co. Mo. to search for some family
history. First stop at the library to search for an article I had promised
some new acquaintances in Seattle, Wa. Henry Otto Cato and
Lewis Cato (son of Henry Otto). Here is their line.
Lewis Cato--Red Hair
Madalyn Dubourg
Henry Otto Cato--Lt Brn. Hair
Corrine ?
Charles Otto Cato--5-31-1893---Red Hair
Elsie May Jett 7-18-1898
Daniel William Cato 4-2-1860 to1937
Mary F. Hinkle--2-19-1872(see later article)
Mary Dennis
William Cato 1810
Winifred McGee (Winnie) another McGee connection
Now the article on Daniel's wife from the Bollinger Co. newspaper.
August 27 1891
Thursday of last week, Daniel Cato, who lives on Castor river,
went to church near his home, leaving his family apparently well.
While he was away a heavy thunder and rain storm came up, which
lasted for sometime. On reaching home after the storm Mr. Cato
was horrified to find the body of his dead wife lying on the floor
of their home with his two small children still in the arms of his
lifeless wife. Although the cause of her death is unknown, it is
thought she was either frightened to death or was struck by
lightning. The children were not injured at all.
A couple of days later this following article:
At the inquest held by Esq. Smith on the 29th ult. on the body
of Mrs. Daniel Cato the jury returned a verdict that the deceased
came to her death by valvular disease of the heart.
I was given the names of Frank Rowe and Lowell Berrong to
interview if possible. Frank Rowe in his 90's had just died a
couple of months earlier and had married a Cato but was still
in a good state of mind until his death. (I think Shirley Cato
of Tullahoma Tn. had interviewed Frank some time ago and
I will contact her) Lowell Berrong was familiar with the Cato
family and personally knew Daniel Cato as a youngster, but
that was as far as he could take us.
