I am looking for info on a woman named Elizabeth Cato/Catoe/Cator/Cater.
She was born around the year 1858-1860. I don't have much information
about her, but I have run into some references that suggest her mother's
name was Simms, and that her name was possibly Savannah Elizabeth
Simms. I have found information from her sons stating different
fathers, JP Cato and William Cato. In 1910, she was recorded as widowed
in South Carolina under the name of Cator. Her children include (but
are not limited to):Emma born 1878 died 1966 in an institution in S.C.
and was married to a man named Henry B. Massey and had a daughter named
Pearl/Jacquiline Massey born 9-20/22-1907 and died 1981 Pearl had a
daughter Joyce Massey DOB 11-4-1927 in Norfolk, Virginia believed to be
adopted. Joyce Massey Hanoum Gieck can be reached at P.O. Box #472,
Pahrump, Nevada 89048 or (702) 727-5983. One mystery is who was Pearl
Massey staying with in 1927? Other children of Elizabeth included a
daughter Jane, a daughter Marie/Minny who married into the Comer/comur
family and died in Densmore, Jacksonville, Florida in 1950. Elizabeth
also had two sons...Robert born 1890 who has a daughter or granddaughter
named Sunshine or Swan, she is believed to still be alive. And the
other son is Lewis/Louis born 1893. Joyce Gieck has a cousin named
Oscar Catoe and knows that Robert's son is named Gilbert Cato and was
last known to be in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Elizabeth was known to
be/live in the Kershaw/Lancaster County area of South Carolina. Thanks
for any help you give. Jennifer DiCamillo dcamillo(a)isat.com
