deposition 1873
claimant is 4(3?) years old, wagonmaker and farmer
lived 4 miles north of Fayetteville during the war...1861-June 1864 when removed with
family to Illinois. Lived there until war ended. Worked in Illinois in a machine
shop...no near relations in the Rebel army... One brother who was in the Rebel Army as a
mechanic but not a soldier...Brother (not named) died in Illinois in the winter of
1864-65. At time of his death was a prisoner in Alton Prison.
Sons of Jacob R. Cato (all of Washington Co Ark) who gave depositions in 1873:
John H. Cato age 26...went to Illinois before his father did.
