1)-Bk. 2, p. 97, 9/2/1740 Henry "X" Cook gave 100 acres of land on
Fountains Creek to his daughter Jane Cator.
Bk. 2, p. 512, 10/1/1744 John Cato bought from William Kittery 76
acres for 32 lbs. in Brunswick Co., Va. obtained by patent dated
1/27/1734. (I could not locate this patent to further locate the land.)
Land Patent: 1/12/1746 John Cato for 35 shillings is granted 354
acres in the County of Brunswick on the South side of Fountains Brook
on John Parson's line, John Jeffer's corner and on his own line.
Land Patent : 1/12/1746 Daniel Cato for 40 shillings 398 acres in the
County of Brunswick on the South side of Fountains Creek on John
Cato's line.
2)-Bk. 5, p. 267, 10/5/1752 John X Cato and wife Jane sell to William
Lee 454 acres in 2 tracts on the south side of Fountains Creek
(John's 354 acres and Jane's 100 acres)
3)-Bk. 5, p. 287 Burwell Cato bought from Richard Ledbetter for 20
lbs 100 acres of land on both sides of White Oak Swamp.
4)-Bk. 5, p. 292, 11/27/1752 John Cato buys in 2 deeds from various
heirs of Henry Peoples, dec'd of Prince George Co. Joseph Carter and
wife Elizabeth and the widow Agness Potts acted as sellers in this
deed. The land was on Both sides of Fountain Creek.
5)-Bk. 5, p. 385, 11/27/1752 John Cato gets title in this second deed
from the rest of the heirs of Henry Peoples, dec'd through John Zell
for the above 240 acres on Both sides of Fountains Creek.
6)-Bk. 5, p. 720, 3/15/1755 John Cato bought from Stephen Houseman of
Edgecomb Co, N.C. for 2 lbs. and 10 shillings 57 acres of land on
North side of Fountains Creek.
7)-Bk. 5, p. 809, 10/2/1753 John "X" Cato gave to his son-in-law
Peter Lee a negro girl named Mountain.
8)-Bk. 6, p. 99, 1/3/1757 John Cato bought from Robert Ruffin for 29
lbs. 200 acres on the North side of Fountain Creek on Peoples line.
9)-Bk. 6, p. 132, 1/7/1757 Daniel Cato bought from Joseph Habcock for
81 lbs 2 tracts of adjoining land, 1 tract containing 200 acres
bordering on John Smithew (?) , 1 tract containing 254 acres on
Falling run.
Bk. 6, p. 274, 7/17/1758 Deed between Edward Wesson and Jacob Woolsey
for 1000 acres on both sides of Quarrel Swamp adjoining William
Johnson and Henry Cator.
Bk. 6, p. 450, 12/15/1759 Deed between William Powell and Tobias
Moore for 153 acres on Sulke Branch adjoining John Cato.
Bk. 6, p. 663, 4/27/1761, Deed between George Wallton and Thomas
Wallton for 200 acres on North side of Quarrell Swamp adjoining Henry
Ledbetter in the presence of Burrell Cato, George Wallton Jr.,
Thomas Wallton and John Wallton, it being a part of a 1150 acre tract.
Bk. 7, p. 144 7/26/1762 Deed between Charles and Elizabeth Powell and
Thomas Powell for 262 acres on the North side of Fountains Creek
adjoining land of Daniel Cato and Henry Cook.
Bk. 6, p. George Cato [son of Daniel] sells to William Tomlinson 173
acres on the North side of Fountains Creek adjoining Henry Cook,
William Barnett on Stukes Branch.
10)-Bk. 9, p. 323, 1769 Daniel Cato buys from Edward Freeman
11)-Bk. 9, p. 495, 2/4/1769 John X Cato gives to his son Henry Cato
of North Carolina 250 acres on North side of Fountains Creek.
Witnessed by Henry Wyche, William Brewer and Sterling Cato, recorded
7/24/1769.
Deed: 1/21/1770 Moses Vincent and Sarah sell to William Brown Witness
Sterling Cato.
12)-Bk. 10, p. 267, 11/23/1771 Henry Cato and wife Tabitha sold to
Drury Cook 250 acres of land on North side of Fountain Creek given to
him by his father John Cato.
13)-Bk. 11, p. 5, 1773 Daniel Cato buys from Henry Brewer for 21 lbs,
21 3/8 acres on the South Side of Falling Run.
Deed: 2/9/1775 Sterling Cato and Henry Cook both witness a deed.
14)-Bk. 11 p. 503 9/28/1775 John Cato buys from Henry Cook for 35 lbs,
10 shillings, 33 acres on the North side of Fountains Creek granted
to William Cook 10/31/1725, beginning at a white oak on John Cato's
line.
15)-Bk. 11, p. 524, 4/30/1775, Lewis Cato delivered 1 wagon and 3
horses to John Camp in payment for 50 lbs and 5 shillings owed.
16)-Bk. 12, p. 107, 6/25/1776, Rowland Cato of buys from Thomas
Powell for 5 shillings and natural love and affection 261 acres on
the North side of Fountain Creek . Witness Sterling Cato, William
Powell.
17)-Bk. 13, p. 20, 10/16/1777, John Catoe buys from William Bennett
50 acres on the North side of Fountain Creek.
18)-Bk. 13, p. 233, Judith Cato [widow of Burwell] and her son Daniel
Cato sell to James Randle for 100 lbs land on both sides of White Oak
Swamp adjoining George Walls, John ? Lolome, Charles Smith.
