Me TOO!
I have this record for Nathan L. Cato:
Nathan L. Cato
A 79 Enlisted Missouri Militia and Montgomery's Company
enlisted MO Militia, Civil War pension app #975440, cert: denied
widow: Sarah J. Cato, app #869598, cert #973730
Sarah was buried 26 June 1933. Her son, Otto, cared for her in Greenbrier, MO (Bollinger
Co).
On 25 May 1895, Nathan is 54 years old and lives in Bollinger Co, Wayne Township.
Nathan L. Cato is on the 1890 Veteran's Schedule Census:
Nathan L. Cato
MO, Bollinger Co, Wayne Township
private, Co A 79; served 7 months and 21 days (7 July 1864-Feb 28, 1865)
health: chronic rheumatism
draws no pension
Just to confuse everything more:
Also on that 1890 veteran's census is Emanuel Kinder, same county and CW outfit, and
same term of service, as Nathan L. Cato.
But the affiant for NEEDAM Cato is ALSO Emanuel Kinder, of Advance, Stoddard Co MO. This
is in 1923. And he gives a different term of service (says he enlisted 27 June 1864 in
the I 6 Cav.) So I don't know if we are dealing with 2 different Emanuel Kinders, or
whether Needam and Nathan L. are the same person and their minds are cloudy. I know mine
is!
I also have this:
"Nathan L. Cato is listed as administrator of estate on death of Mary A.C. Crites in
the early 1870s."
don't know where I got this...maybe from you? It's just written in the margin of
my notes.
If I did get this from you, can you check and see if you have any more info on this
administration?
Best,
Cynthia
