Boy, Adruain, just when I think something comes in that will help us it turns out to just
add to the confusion! I think that's all fm the pension app, but will make sure. I
can't even find this Needham in MO in 1920, though that's where he says he lives
in the 1923 affidavit! Will keep looking, it's pouring rain here so a good day to work
on the computer. You are right, this must be another case of first/middle name
switcheroo.

Subject: Needham Cato--Mo
Cynthia
When I got this e-mail the first thing I thought of
was Needham, son of 1818 John.
After investigating, these dates won't fit his age group.
At this point we thought there was only one Needham,
and that was John's son.
When Needham says he was born Mar 4 1840, this put
us to looking elsewhere. On Missouri State Archives data
base I had found the following:
Wilson Cato
Montgomerys 6 mos EMM
enrolled July 4 1864
Bloomfield Mo
Relieved from duty Feb 15th 1865
actual days service 221
William Cato
unattached 79th 6 months EMM
Captain Alfred Montgomery
enlisted July 4 1864
Bloomfield Mo
relieved Feb 15 1865
served 221 days
Both of these boys were born around 1840 and evidently
one of them has Needham as a middle name. Is there more
information on the application that would point us to which
one it is??
Adruain
