Hi Julie,
I'm looking at Cato/Williams families.......I have kin buried in the Ahab Cato cemetery. About a month ago, my father was visiting relatives in Advance, and I gave him a digital camera to photograph the markers in the cemetery. The tombstones I have are: Flora J. Harrington, Davis (unreadable), Bessie & Otto Cato, Sarah Jane Cato, Nathal L Cato, James V Cato, Nathan E Cato, Bradley Cato, Burette Cato, Ada B Cato, Dearel Cato, Jessie M Cato, Lowel Cato, Louis & Valley Cato, Lillie May Cato, Sanford Cato, Mary E Cato, Leo Cato, Olla Cato, Matilda Cato, William G Cato, Edison Cato, Sarah & Thomas Cato, James E & Thomas Cato, Charles O Cato, Lou J Cato, Willie C & Martha J Williams (my g grandparents) William J Williams, Francis Williams and Kelly James.
If any of these are your kin, I will be happy to send you the photo file of whichever tombstone you need. I am just beginning my Cato line of research so I don't have much that I can share. Let me know if any of this is helpful.

You have the book?! I would love to read it. How long have you had it ? Is it really true that you can't get a copy anymore? Questions, questions, questions.

Hi,
When I was reading the census' on the Cato website , their was a younger Cato man with a wife name Matilda. I think it was in the 1880.
So, was the grave yard in good shape? Was it easy to find or do you live nearby? I am very interested in going there. What town is Arab close to and what county? I will be coming up from Memphis on I-55.
I have several stops to make. I have Richardsons, Hopsons, Hill and Thompsons to locate in Morley and Hayti.
You wouldn't happen to have any of those in your line too?
You can write me at
Jadeandlonewolf(a)netzero.net
I'd like to know who you are related to .
Mine of course is Matilda daughter of John and Martha Cato of Bollinger Co.
Thanks for writing!!
Julie

Julie,
I was at the Cato cemetery last weekend near Arab Mo.
There is a grave for a Matilda Cato there. It is with the Williams family plot. Does this mean anything to you?

Mr. Pryor, I have received some new info on my Cato ancestors and I believe that Wilce Cato is my grandfather (Lee G. Cato) father and Clairborne H Cato his grandfather. You said your grandfather's name was Cornelius LaFayette Cato--I believe that he may be the brother of Lee G. Cato because my dad (Raymond F. Cato) said that he had a brother that they always called Fate Cato--do you know if your grandfather's nickname may have been "Fate" Thank you
Need to locate info on this person for medical history information. Was told
Cato's uncle raised chickens ...in Ark.
Could have been seen in Colorado also...

Can anyone recall a Cato that was called Buster ?
And does anyone remember Apple trees on the property of family members in Mo. around 1955?
These are some of my Mom's memories of the Cato's and I want to try and put some names to the stories.

I saw something on one of these pposts that said teh plantation in SC had slaves and the slaves had taken the name. There is person on here named Bonnie Palmer. She seems to know the most. Find a post from her and email her. I bet she would know the amswer and ponit you the right way.
I do know that a will I saw in another family only listed the slaves by first name. There is also a Freedmans website you may want to look up. Also, try to get in touch with a prfessor at a southern college and ask them. The schools themself might have a geneology dept. on line.
Good luck!!
Your search must be a lot harder than mine.I wish you the best!!!

Hello!
Can you tell me if the Cato's are related to the Kennedy's? I am a Kennedy, but just found the Cato's on my mother's side. I am a direct descendant of Edward Kennedy-Ga. Also related to the Jones's and Stanfields from the Abbeyville District of SC.
wouldn't this be interesting??!!

Message Board Post:
Dear Mr. Pryor,
My father is Raymond Franklin Cato b. Nov 1932 near Vian , OK and his father was Lee G.(General) Cato born June 14, 1875 and died Sept. 1968. My grandfather often spoke about living on a big farm 14 miles SE of Paris, TX when he was a boy. My dad says that he thinks Lee G Cato's fathers name was Wills or Willis Cato (He never knew him so is not sure of the first name) I have found out thru these Web Connect sources and my family that many Cato family ancestors may be buried at a cemetary near Paris , TX so I believe there is a definate connection. I am seeking to find Lee G Cato's father and other ancestors that may have lived near Paris, TX probably in the late 1800's. I do know that Lee G. Cato had a brother named Ben Cato, Jim Cato, and sister Faith Cato. In my grandfather's possessions there is an old New Testament bible that says it belonged to Eula Cato and gives her date of birth as May 17, 1809 and date of death Oct. 11, 1905. We do not know who she was but ju!
dging by the dates I am guessing she may have been the grandmother of Lee G. Cato? I hope some of this is helpful--please let me know if you know any other info on the Cato Family--Thank you.

I don't know if I have any information, but my Mother's maiden name is Cato. Her father was Roy Lee Cato his parents died and he was raised by family. They were from around Paris, Tx. If I am not wrong, the name of the town was Cunningham. Mother has also told me that there is a Cato cemetery around there. I have never been there, but my middle brother has, whose Middle name is Cato.
My mother is 80 years old. I also know that there was an uncle Ernest. Her father had a brother by the name of Dree Cato and he lived in Wichita Falls until he died several years ago.
I am interested in finding some information out about the Cato family as I never knew my grandfather, he died when my Mother is 3 years old. Any information you might have would be helpful.
Thanks,Pat
