(still need to get rest)
The following is already on the CATO page, but the one on the page was
from notes taken during a telephone conversation with Virginia Warren
that she was patient & gracious enough to read off to me! However,
because the telephone isn't terrible accurate for things like spelling &
such & in general leaves a lot of room for mistakes, I wanted to get a
copy of the actual record. Although still not exactly from the actual
records, this is the complete record as taken from the Mississippi
Genealogical Exchange (Magazine) 2-4, Dec. 1956. I'm adding the entire
article, even the questions posed at the end of this article (so none
are my notes or questions):

Note at end of copied record:
"Bible in possession of descendant of the Cato family, now living in
Florida. Only the Family Record pages were seen & copied by Kathryne G.
Watkins. The Rebecca Fore Cato was a Barlow - daughter of John Barlow &
Polly Millsaps. I believe the Catos living around Union Church, Miss."
Additional Cato Notes - MGE Files:
Old Pleasant Valley Cemetery (In western part of Copiah County,
Mississippi)
Ida Louise/Dau. of H. & Rebecca Cato/b. July 1, 1860/d. Aug. 20, 1866
Note: It is improbable that the Cato family was living in Copiah
County. This was the home of the Barlow family. Rebecca (Barlow) Cato,
above, had brother buried in same cemetery.
Hazelhurst Cemetery (Old Section)
Lillian Obine/Dau. of L.N. & Elizabeth Cato/b. Jan. 29, 1862/
Note: Could this be the son of Henry & Ida ( ) Cato b. 11-18-1833 -
middle name of Nicholas & first name very difficult to read in copy and
of doubtful interpretation, but beginning with "L"? Nothing concerning
him in his half-sister's notations.
* This name definitely began with "J" and last two letters could have
been "es"; but it did not look like James. However, the only Cato in
Jefferson County Censu of 1820 was James Cato - M: Under 10 - 3; 10-16 -
1; 26-45 - 1. F: Under 10 - 2; 10-16 - 1; 26-45 - 1. Since Henry Cato
would have been 12 years old in 1820, he may have been the boy shown as
10 to 16 years of age.
Question: Did Henry Cato, Sr. marry three times? From the Bible record
it is certain that he married Ida C. Dunbar (daughter of Joseph Dunbar)
Dec. 16, 1827. It is also certain that he married Ida L. Sullivan, who
was born March 11, 1809 and died Sept. 10, 1844. Note the several years
btwn the birth of L__?__tum Nicholas in 1833 and Caroline Amanda in
1837.
Burrell Cato, Revolutionary soldier who served from S.C., applied for a
pension which was rejected because he did not have six months' service.
He came first to Wayne County, then to eastern part of Jefferson. Ir?
"Family Records of Mississippi Revolutionary Soldiers" by Mrs. Welch,
two sons, Lewis (a name used in Henry's family) and Sterling. She does,
however, state that Burrel's parents were Henry and Tabitha Cato. Also
note that Henry Cato named, not one son, but two "Burrel."

Hi all!
First of all, I'd like to thank Teri (teepee(a)flash.net) for meeting me
at the Clayton Library & getting the following info, in addition to lots
of digging through indexes & photocopying info that I'll be sending in
later e-mails! She's a real trooper & stayed at the library doing all
this for around 11 hours yesterday! (Not a small feat when you remember
much of this time was spent poring over microfilm & winding film!) She's
very sweet & I really enjoyed visiting & getting to know her & I'm proud
to say I've now got a new friend!
Well, here goes!
