I am just trying to find out if MY George is likely to be be George Barlett Catlin.
My George:
Said to have been abt 25 when he enlisted on 5 Apr 1861, with the 2nd IA Infantry in
Keokuk, Lee Co., Iowa.
1870 Census Montrose, Lee Co., IA
Catline George B. farmer 33 born NY [bc 1837]
Sarah wife 26 born IA
Jerry M. son 4 born IA
Emma daughter 2 born IA
William son 9m born IA
I saw that Henry's George was with him in 1850, but not after.
1850 Brooklyn, Marquette Co., Wisconsin
Henry Catlin 60 m Farmer PA
Eliza Catlin 33 f NY
George B Catlin 13 m NY
Mary E Catlin 14 f NY
Martha Catlin 11 f NY
Thedosia F Catlin 9 f NY
Theodore F Catlin 5 m NY
The only other information I have on MY George, is that he was on his way to LaCrosse,
Wisconsin, when he fell off the boat and drowned. He left a wife who was eight months
pregnant, and three children, in Montrose, Iowa. One of them was my great great
grandmother Mary "May" Emma Catlin.
Just looking for more clues!
What Book do you refer to? I have just sent away for the Roehm book.
