Carole,
I have just begun down a branch of Catlin's from Lockport, New York, that I hope to be
the long-lost family of my great great great grandfather: George B. Catlin, who was born
in New York abt 1835-6.
All I knew about him, other than birth was that he was in the 2nd Inf, Union soldier in
the Civil War, out of Keokuk, Iowa.
After his marriage to Sarah Jane Anderson, they were living in Montrose, Lee Co., Iowa, in
1870. They had four children, and he drowned in the Mississippi on 2 Jun 1873.
He was on his way to LaCrosse, Wisconsin, but that may have only been where he was
supposed to get off the boat, meaning to travel inland.
I have since discovered that Putnam Catlin's oldest son Henry Catlin moved to
Wisconsin from Lockport around 1844.
Henry had a son George B. Catlin, born abt 1835-6 in New York.
Any chance we're researching the same family?
