According to Nelson Co. Kentucky Deeds , Seth Catlin purchased 4 Negroes from Archibald
Curry about 1789. According to Kentucky Court and Other Records Vol II Franklin County,
Deeds, page 138, Cury, Archibald-Woodford Quarter Session-Arch. Curry in the fall of 1788,
removed his family from Kent Co., Dela. to Ky., leaving behind his son, James Curry, in
possession of his land there (crops, 5 negroes, etc.). He, Arch. Curry, owed John Banning
and James Curry was to pay him out of crops, etc., but James was running a store and
failed, took money for own debts, . . . Banning brought suit, and in 1789 son, James,
applied to a certain Seth Catline for money, etc., to pay Banning, . . . Seth Catline and
son, James C, came to this county in 1789, and James was killed by 1790 in expedition vs.
Maumee Indians, etc., etc. (Suit filed Oct. 12, 1793. (See Curry vs. Catlins, Box
354-356.)
