Thanks Mick,
The CWGC is indeed a useful place to start for those who are not aware of
what Regiment or other military Service their ancestors fought in.
This of course will only give you a brief indication regarding those killed
in action.
What I had in mind was a Roll of Cat*leys who played a part in Military
Service who either served and survived, or paid the ultimate sacrifice.
Not a one line entry but a succinct paragraph or two re their history.
I have made a study of one of my Tree who served in WW2, another from WW1
and a third from The Crimean War which I would like to share with you all
but I will not take up space on e-mail unless the majority are in favour of
the project?
Military history interests me anyway and if it involves my Tree, so much to
the better but it is not everyone's cup of tea I know that.
In the three cases I have taken, the individuals concerned were killed in
action or, in one case died of cholera as did many troops in that campaign.
In other words, who else is interested in putting together a few lines about
their Tree members exploits in times of conflict?
Cheers Tim

The Commonwealth War Graves Commission web site <
www.cwgc.org>
has a
searchable data base for British Commonwealth service personnel killed in
World Wars 1 and 2. Contents of the site are subject to copyright held by
the Commission.
Quite comprehensive Service Records for Australians in the Boer War, and
World Wars 1 and 2 can be viewed on line at the web site of the National
Archives of Australia <
www.naa.gov.au>. Again, copyright provisions apply.
