Hi Mick and Candis
Further to my e-mail yesterday and whilst waiting for David Cattley to reply, I made a
start today in fitting all the Anstey genealogy together with the idea that this would
probably be the easiest way of communicating all-in-one and then getting you to edit it
for me, however I have come up against a small problem and need your help because you both
have slightly differing information on the same part of the Tree.
Situation:- Mick, you have James Catley marrying Sarah Fox. You have their third son,
John as marrying unknown but they had Charles as their only child. John is indicated as
b1813 and son Charles as b1825 ie 12 years later!
Candis, you have James and Sarah having 9 children but the Charles
above is shown as a brother to John and not his son, ie Charles has jumped back a
generation!
Which ever (please can you confirm) the end result is the same on both counts ie that
Charles m Susan Bentley
However:- Mick: you have that Charles and Susan had one son .... Eli Henry b1856
Candis: you have that Charles and Susan had six children, the fifth being
Eli George b1857
This Eli is a crucial member and full clarification is needed methinks because it looks
that at this time that there was a name change on this part of your Tree from Catley to
Cattley.
You both indicate that this "Eli" married both Charlotte Wilshire and then
afterwards, Emily Whitton (he in fact married a THIRD person after C and E) which rather
confirms that you are referring to the same person.
This is where my Cattley PRO lists come in because they show that in 1881 Eli George
married in Kensington then again in 1891 he married in Marylebone and for the third time
in 1905 in Richmond.S.
The 1974 Anstey Parish Records "Cat*ley Family Tree" produced by Tamplin clearly
support Mick re the progression of this branch whereas it also supports Candis in other
areas.
I am thus confused!
Please get back to me when you can.............. hang on one minute here! Mick and
Candis:- have you communicated together and pooled resources? ............ if you had, I
would have hoped you would have already spotted your own differences!
Regards Tim
