Hello Kay,
There has certainly been a flurry of activity recently re Lincolnshire
Cat*leys which pleases me no end because I had always thought that nobody
was doing much research in that area but I have been proved wrong.
As for "connections having been made" I think only one has come to light so
far and that involves FJC (Frederick John Catley of Telford) who is on
holiday at present but nodoubt we will learn more on his return.
However, there IS plenty of speculation going on but it seems to be aimed at
John Cattley of Shabden a member of my research intact Tree with other non
tree Catleys passing comments about likenesses to members of their family.
I would buy into this IF the genealogy of my own Tree was not already known!
Have noted your Bary Catley of Toronto onto my list ( researching Cat*leys
in York) and wonder if he can be persuaded to join this Net?
There are Cattleys in Pennsylvania who before they emigrated there in the
1860's were Catleys in Leeds (Seacroft area) who really ought to be
researching their roots but there seems to be a rift between the two
resulting main branches and they are not communicating, hence none are doing
any research, if they were, am sure that between you, things Cat*ley in
Leeds could be narrowed down.
I have some information on the two generations of theirs before they
emigrated which might knit in with yours, its a bit sketchy but you are
welcome to have it if you want.
Hope your request brings others out into the open for you.
Best wishes and good luck with the researches, regards ............ Tim
Cattley

Dear listers,
I am feeling very left out here !! .. you all seem to be researching in
Lincs
or London, or wherever, and you all seem to have connections to each
other -
tenuous or otherwise..!!!!!
Can you spare a thought for we lonely souls researching LEEDS or other
parts
of Yorkshire (or BURNLEY Lancs)..... and if you come across
anything
which
could
be ours please let us know. I have excellent records after 1837, but
unfortunately
the family I am interested in had their babies in the 1820's, which was
very
inconsiderate of them . If any of you know anyone who has access to
the
PR's
of St Peter's, Leeds, please let me know.
Thanks !
Kay
p.s. Tim mentioned recently the number of active Cat(t)ley researchers,
and
to
that list we can add my relative Barry Catley, who lives in Toronto
(although not
on this mailing list). An active YORKS researcher for many years.
