Hi everybody
The link is getting very interesting.
When I was picked up on my mis-spelling of my Catleys I was very embarassed
but I now believe that those looking for Catley ancestors must consider the
'double ts'. If I could make the mistake, surely that is what they did.
As I have read earlier today, people start this hobby/lifestyle for many
reasons but mine was because I knew only 2 facts:
1.) My paternal grandmother's father was called Richard Catley and came from
Barnetby.
2.) My paternal grandmother's mother insisted that her third name, Herriott,
should always be quoted and she came from Boston.
As I have learnt about these two people and chart the movements of their
possible ancestors and their descendants I feel sure that they are linked
with Cattleys and Catlah of Hull, not only that Elizabeth Ann Herriott
Catley and Richard Catley are catalogued as Carley (of Grimsby) in the 1901
census.
Today as I learn about Catley of Shabden, being near Barnet, I wonder if
Barnet and Barnetby are linked in any way?
