Hello Mat,
If you have been reading the correspondence on the Cat*ley rootsweb for a
few weeks now, you will know that I am attempting to co-ordinate things and
keep a watching brief on email input for people and try to cross reference
subject matter.
However I can only go on that which I have been sent since taking on the
job.
Your request got me thinking because although I have nothing IT wise, the
Halstead location and the names you quote started very small bells ringing
this end. Waited but no response from any others to your call.
Then it hit me, the name Mervin Davies sprang up, now Mervin I think, was
the leading light in the beginning of this CATLEY-L rootsweb net but this
was well before I had gone on IT but thanks to Erica Hills, he made snail
mail contact with me and sent me quite a lot of information as to his own
progress on Catley research.
So tonight, having seen that you have not had any replies through the net, I
thought that I would dig out Mervins information that he sent me and there
lo and behold what do I find on his attachments page 4? Samuel Catley bapt
2/4/1858 married Emma Mellinder Richer 20/10/1880 at St Andrews, Halstead.
There is bags of stuff on Mervins input which is presumably exactly that
which you seek and is directly relevant to you.
Mervin has had to pull out of everything Rootsweb due to family commitments
but I am sure that he has left his information in electronic with early
members of this Net. Hopefully therefore one or so of them will read this
and be able to send you Mervins data?
Maybe Erica can give you a better picture as she has taken the job over from
Mervin. He had done sterling work on his Essex Tree and you are not the
first person to ask for him since he has seen it necessary to pull out of
the net (sorry, web. I keep forgetting that I am not talking to radio hams
... my other hobby.... where groups are nets!) but I think that we must
accept that he really does not wish to carry on for the time being. No doubt
he will return in time but for the present we must respect his wishes.
I would happily supply you the Halstead notes that Merv sent me in paper
form if they are of interest to you, if others who have been in this web
since its infancy have not got electronic copy?
Can anyone help Mat please?
Regards Tim Cattley

Subject: [CAT...] North Essex Catley's
Hello everybody
I am a descendant of Emma Mellinda Catley who married Samuel Catley in
Halstead 1880. I would love to hear from the person who has researched
this
line.
Regards
Mat Turner
