Dear Anne,
I don't think it is the same one. All I have is that John Thomas Catley
married Martha Elizabeth Callard at St. Mary's Newington on 1/4/1841. It
states that his father was Zacchaeus Catley a Cane Worker. I am looking at
some census for 1851 to see what I can find, but this is time consuming and
I haven't found anything yet. I must add that I am helping my stepdad as its
his family. I am also trying to do mine which is Fry, but as all mine came
from the New Forest area I have gone back quite a way without leaving the
house!!!
I live in Kent England. Hackney is the other side of the Thames to
Newington. I do know that some of my dads family went to work in the mines
in Wales, but he can remember visiting family in Southwark when he was very
young.
Any thoughts on this would be great
Liz

Dear Liz,
Don't you mean Zacariah Catley b. 7 September 1808 baptised 25 September
1808 at St John's Hackney England. Drowned in the Hutt River, New
Zealand
possibly July 1842.
He is my gt.gt.grandfather. Are you in New Zealand and do you have the
family tree.
Where did the Zecharias spelling come from.
And yes we all are stuck at the same brick wall too, but some are trying
hard to solve this
Regards
Anne
