Hello Liz,
Wish I could be of more assistance but I am studying Cattley specifically as
my ancestors went into double T spelling around 1600 and as such I have
nothing much on Catley.
Chris Newell is probably your best bet and you will find entries from him in
both web sites although he has studied Catleys more in the Cheshire area
than London I am afraid.. Are you certain that your ancestors were already
in the London area and could not have moved down from Lincoln? My advice
is, UNLESS YOU ARE SURE do NOT assume anything in research. Search it all
out if there is any doubt at all.
If you know from census records then hopefully you can get to Parish Records
that way?
Wish you all the best, Sincerely
Tim Cattley.-----

Subject: [CAT*LEY] Zaccheus CATLEY descendants
Hi,
I'm helping my dad do his family tree. I'm looking for Catleys that lived
in Southwark and Newington area. Some of these went to Wales to work in
the
mines.I have a John Thomas who married Martha Elizabeth Callard
1/4/1841,
his father was Zacchaeus and a cane worker. I've found a Zaccheus b
19/10/1777 whose father was Thomas but they came from Lincoln.
I looked at the Catley web site and found Zacheus as being a cane worker
in
the 1839 mdx directory and again in 1846 for Surrey, This I believe
is the
person I,m looking for but how do I find out further info.
Thanks
Liz
