Kay,
It would be helpful if you would address things to me if you wish me to
"pick up" on the correspondence!
There is so much short crossover communication going on at present that
things can get lost in the wash!
I think you are probably quite right about the village name being Scarcroft
and not Seacroft. The raw information came from Louis Alan Cattley of
Philadelphia, Pennsylvania some years ago now but because it only goes back
to circa mid 1800's, I had discounted it as relevant to my own Tree and put
this known Cattley pedigree into the "other Cattley" to be researched at a
later date file.
However, looking at the geography of the area again with the village name of
Scarcroft in mind, I now note just how close it is to the villages of Bolton
Percy, Boston Spa,Clifford and Bramham which is where my ancestors come from
in the early 1700's (following on from Stevan Catlay of Normanton 1609) and
although there is an approx 100 year gap, one has to consider that given the
geography, there well could be a connection between the two Trees, after
all, in genealogical terms, this is only three generations difference?
Unfortunately poor Louis is very ill at present but I will ask his sister
Marge who does monitor this net from time to time to see if she can extract
any further details ie Seacroft or Scarcroft?
Thanks for pointing this out
Regards ................ Tim.
P.S. MARGE IN PENNSYLVANIA ..... have you picked this up?

P.S. I think this village is 'Scarcroft' not
'Seacroft' - it is within
walking distance
of the village of Thorner (both North Leeds) where Catherine Dawson came
from
(she who married John Catley).
If anyone has a definitive list of their offspring or anything else about
them I would be very grateful..
