Subject: [CAT*LEY] Re: Cat*ley research coordination...update.
Hello everybody,
Things are beginning to hot up with many of you sending in some key Tree
information which enables me to put the following list out as to who is
researching who.
As before, I give the name of the person doing the research, the earliest
name researched back to,the Town or village in question and the approximate
year:-
Liz Cordingly Zacchaues Catley of Newington circa 1810
Laura Ing William Catley of Marylebone circa 1810
Vickie Barratt Joseph Catley of Cambridge 1813
Linda Van Meter Joseph Catley ofWilloughton circa 1800
Chris Newall Joseph Catley of Weaverham 1821 (born in
Middlesex)
Anthony Catley Thomas Catley of Somerset circa 1818
Dennis Catley Thomas Catley of Welton 1712
B and J Prvanov John Catley of Hackney circa 1800
Ann Nickless " " " "

Kay Heath John Catley of Leeds circa 1800
Mick Catley Charles Catley of Barley 1714
(Ansty Catleys)
Candis Sanders James Catley of Barley 1709
Tim Cattley John Cattley of Barton le Willows 1918
" " William Cattley of Leeds
1848
" " Herbert of Wakefield
1840
" " William of Tadcaster
1827
" " Marmaduke of Wakefield 1839
" " Stevan Catlay of Normanton 1609.
James Cattley John Catley of Leeds 1840
I think you will all agree that this represents a pretty impressive line up
of researchers all after the same ends and I can not imagine that there can
possibly be another "one name study" of so rare a Sir Name as is ours that
carries so many people who are active?
I seem to recall that Erica indicated that there some 40 people on the
Catley @rootsweb list, so possibly there is more information to come my way?
Some of you have already started asking me specific and individual questions
concerning your Trees and whilst I am flattered that you do so, please do
understand that I only know as much as you tell me and thus can not be
expected to answer !
My job is to absorb all your collective research and look for possible links
and hopefully see common ground and advise accordingly. This I will do to
the best of my ability but I can not be expected to act as a research engine
for others, advise me by all means what you are hoping for (an example from
the above list would be the fact that there are three of us looking for
Cat*leys in the Leeds archives) and "flag up" key individuals by all means,
this is quite OK for me to keep in mind but to go beyond that is quite
outside my scope more is the pity.
This central feedback has already started paying off because I think we have
a connection between Kay Heath and James Cattley that was not known of
before. I have found a link in John Catley of Leeds common to both parties
circa 1800 and confirmation of this person would net two researchers
together with one ancestory. Kay is spending a few weeks over here in the UK
and visiting the PRO and hopefully will be able to make a firm connection
from archive records.
Will post another list if more join in the action and watch out for Chris
Newalls addendum as well.
Regards to all Tim Cattley

Subject: [CAT*LEY] Research co-ordination.
Hi Everyone,
Several weeks ago Tim CATTLEY suggested that it would be useful if someone
were to act as a central registrar of CAT*LEY lines. He has now very
kindly offered to take on that role.
I have two thoughts that might further all our efforts.
Firstly, it would be helpful to all concerned if list members were to post
their research interests on this list so we could all see who "needed"
what. If you make some progress with your research, why not then tell
us
all about it. You never know you might have just found the bridge
that
allows Tim to connect your line even further back, and, if you add details
of the source, then Chris NEWALL can add the information to his database
of
CAT*LEY events.
Which brings me to my second suggestion. Chris NEWALL is continually
adding to his database at
http://www.rebus.demon.co.uk/catleydb/catleydb.htm. He welcomes new
information and, obviously, it's a good idea to check there from time to
time as it's a great place to discover folk who strayed from their
original
parishes.
Happy hunting............ Erica Hills
