Liz,
By all means have a go for his death cert or even birth as well if you feel
so inclined, at least that way you could append him to a set of parents and
in so doing bring another bit of the Cat*ley jigsaw out into the daylight.
Exactly what the chances of him being related to your stepfather are, I know
not. I have managed with the Cattley spelling to come to the conclusion that
there are at least seven seperate Trees currently in existance that hold the
name but what the tally for Catley is, I really could not say but my guess
is it could be around 5 to 6 times as many. I have no doubt that many of
them are infact branches that join together in the far past.
So it would be a long shot indeed but you never know. I will leave it upto
you to decide what to do about it.
Of course all the information would be present on his RAF "Record of
Service" but unless one can prove to be kext of kin, the Innsworth Records
section of the MOD will not release its contents.
Regards Tim

Hi Tim and all,
Would it be worthwhile obtaining the death cert or even his birth. I
wouldn't
mind knowing who he belongs to. He could be one of mine but I
wouldn't know as my stepdad didn't even know he had all the family I have
found so far.
I have just received a Marr. cert for Sydney Catley and Ada Caroline
Stitchener. 2/8/1908. Problem is she would have been born abt. 1883. can I
find her on the census NO.
Why not? Any suggestions her father was William he was a tailor but
deceased at the time of marriage.
Liz
