You quite correctly interpreted it as Camberwell. Not so good with your
geography as being close to Hammersmith. Camberwell is in God's country
south of the river Thames. Hammersmith is in West London, North of the river
Thames...

Hi to Catley listers
I noted Tim Cattley's posting of 24th June which resulted from earlier
emails
to the list. Some of the areas mentioned are relevant to my spouse's
direct ancestry. Her Hannah was bapt. 1812 in Marcham, BERKS but her dad's
line were from Barkway, HERTS. When Hannah applied to immigrate to
Australia, she resided at 5 Comberwell Green and subsequently arr. Holdfast
Bay, South Aust. on the Ganges in 1839. I have interpreted that last address
to be Camberwell, near Hammersmith.
