Hi Tim,
You where up late. The ref for Percy is Mar Q 1919 3a 905 Royston. Something
puzzles me and maybe someone who has an old map can help. I live in Kent but
don't know where Eynsford Kent Old Part would be. Any thoughts!! More info
Fredericks father was also called Frederick, his father was Ernest and
mother was Kate. Gertrude's father was Robert and mother was Harriet. Both
families had good jobs to do with Solicitors and this is how Frederick and
Gertrude possible met.
Talk soon
Liz

Hello Liz,
I see that you went ahead with FNC Catley on the CWG site and obtained his
details .... well done indeed and I hope that someone on the Rootsweb net
can now claim him as theirs?
Please do not jump to too many conclusions re Catleys marrying Cattleys
and
vice versa! It is just too late for me to look up Percy F Catley
tonight
but
the registration district of Royston says it all.
He must belong to that Cat*ley Pedigree which we know as "The Ansty
Cattleys" after the Hertfordshire village carrying that name. This is an
interesting Tree which actually goes back a few generations earlier to the
villages of Barkway and Barley also in Herts and not far from Ansty. (ie
pre
1743!)
There are many instances within these communities of Cat*leys marrying
Cat*leys, so much so that a one time Vicar of Ansty Parish, curious as to
what went on, did a study back through the generations in the Parish
Records.
Such marriages seem to be specific to Anstys. Whether they were related or
not I can not tell but in other Pedigrees carrying the name, there are
plenty of examples of 1st cousin marriages.
You can fully expect to get chapter and verse replies from both Candice
Sanders USA and Mick Catley (AU or NZ?) who are both related into the
Ansty
Pedigree and are studying it
Best wishes ......... Tim C

> Can anybody claim this person before I order a certificate on him.
> Whilst doing my searches I came across a birth of Percy F Catley mothers
maiden surname was Cattley. He was born Royston march Q 1919. So it just
goes to show the Catley's and Cattley's are related after all!!!
