Good morning Pat,
Yes sad indeed. The nearest living relative to James is a gt grand nephew in
Rio, Brazil. As for the family personal contents of 57 Corfton Road, Ealing
following the death of the last member of that sub branch : Maud, the
executor was going to bin it all until our hero Carol Cattley got to know
what was going on and she saved two generations worth of photo albums,
letters, paintings, diaries, passports etc and donated them (17 boxes full
! ) to Leeds University, Russian Studies Department where they remain as a
wonderful time capsule of the life of a family in the English merchant
community in St Petersburg in old Imperialist (pre 1917) Russia.
We had the pleasure of meeting Carol when she attended one of our annual
"All Cat*ley tree" gatherings in Oxford a couple of years ago.
Regards
Tim

Thanks Tim for the information about James Cattley's family.
It's a
bit sad there was no-one to inherit the teddy bear collection but at
least they went to a good home. They were obviously very special to
the family.
