All most interesting re Claudia and this information was not known, simply
because I have not researched down collateral lines of any Cat*ley tree, my
Cattley tree included Anthony.
Having taken on the task of researching all trees Cat*ley, I have had to
resist the temptation of chasing collaterals, however interesting, as being
counter productive to my main objective which is the production a b/m/d
spreadsheet identifying each and every Cat*ley by date and which tree they
belong to, including those dna tested.
So far the tally is 49 trees (some are twigs which I am sure will merge
together eventually into branches and finally, into already established
trees) and the individual line entries exceed 18,500 events.
The situation is that I am now at an advanced stage of identification
thank's to the input of many listers and most of the "easy stuff" (none will
thank me for this expression!) has thus been recorded and I am left with the
more challenging bits.

Those were two separate observations. The J E Cattley on the
passenger
list was on a short trip to Toulon departing 23 May 1931. Address (Leeds),
age (24), profession (clerk) all match the incoming record from 4 June
1931. The boats were to and from Oz but he did not go that far afield. I
notice a Claudia Cattley born 1894, so about the same age as Vladimir,
took a trip in 1950; profession nurse. Claudia's sister was Ludmila K.
LeFeber of Hendersonville NC and her brother Eugeny Makaroff of Oakland CA
according to Ludmila's obituary in The Times-News, Hendersonville, NC of
19 December 1977; perhaps this was known. Anthony

Thank you Anthony,
For your input and I think that Site Mgr:- Erica and Lister:- Joan will be
interested in your comments.
Vladimir Cattley and his wife Claudia nee Makeroff are known members of
the
Stevan Catlay of Normanton family tree as is their daughter Joan Violet
Cattley bir 22/01/1922 Tonbridge who together were a small twiglet on one
of
the two "Russian Merchant" branches belonging to this tree.
Your reasoning is compelling given the common denominator of Holderness
but
the maths does not work out IF the date of Vladimir's birth in St
Petersburg
in 1895 is correct given that JEV Cattley is shown as age 24 in the Otrano
shipping arrival in Southampton ex Brisbane as this gives a date of birth
of
abt 1907 at which point Vladimir would have been some 12 years of age.
I shall have to attempt to check out the Russian on line archives and look
for Vladimir's birth, possibly JEVC was also born there thus cementing a
"Russian connection"?
Regards Tim
