Thanks for the reply and putting me in the picture more fully. I had
assumed (obviously incorrectly!) that you were offering information on
Cat*ley entries from the Lafford Registers.
The fact that there are none whatsoever for the period covered will only be
a disappointment to anybody who clings to the theory that Catley as a place
name may have originated from some form of association with the Priory.
There is an approx 150 year gap between the closure of the Priory and the
start of the Lafford Registers and so it is anybody's guess as to the
likelyhood or otherwise of any lay persons in the area who took the name in
forgoing years but by local migration over some X generations simply vacated
the area.
If you do find any possible name associations on a second scan, then do
please keep me updated.

yes, you are right, it is an area really close to the Priory (which is
Digby)...so it certainly throws a spanner in that theory,
I will look for 'Cattle' or other variations...Cateley etc..
