Hello Erica,
"How could you use me, do not abuse me" well hardly I assure you ! < with
very big grin indeed> but I took it that Derek had outstanding information
to obtain from you but obviously I read that wrongly.
As for Joan.C. well if the St Petersburg information turns up when you are
going through your voyage of discovery looking at things for the first time
since packing them away for your last house move, I for one will be
fascinated to learn just who it was on our Cattley Tree who is classified as
a performing clown out there! I rather thought they were all rather stuffy
"Merchants" and from time to time attended the Russian Royal Court
functions. It is gratifying to know that some of them had a sense of fun!
As you know from my e-mail attachments of some time ago now, that I have
taken the Gerald Coveney/Chris Newall/LizCordingly PRO/GRO/IGI records for
Cattley and have appended against each entry on them for both BMD's as to
which Cattley Tree the individuals belong. This involves both my Cattley
Pedigree plus the "other seven" that I have managed to isolate. By this
method, I have managed to account for and identify around 80% of all
Cattleys listed.
I was wondering, with all the research work going on with Catley in so many
quarters now, if it would be possible to set up a central access list where
people can do the same sort of thing ie "claim entries" on the BMD's to
individual Trees and by this method, reduce the "open" list accordingly?
If done correctly, such a list would guide a researcher looking for
individual names on it to appreciate that they are either "taken" (ie,
already belong to a Tree) or are "free" ie unclaimed. Thus if a new
researcher then finds a name on this list that is already taken, he/she
would thus instantly know that a family connection already exists elsewhere.
If nothing against the name however, then it means obviously that one is
still alone re researches!
Feel sure that something suitable could be produced but of course it would
have to be controlled. What u think?
Regards as always
Tim.

Hiya Tim,

Suspect !!??? Me !!???
"How could you use a poor maiden so?" <very big grin
Joan says she sent me all the certificates she had, so I am searching for
the St P clown. They were put somewhere when we moved - a case of too
many cooks spoiling the broth. The trouble is that I keep finding
treasures I had forgotten I had - none of them CATTLEY - so I keep going
off at tangents and the process is slow ! Sorry - I can only do this
for
a short time each day.
As far as Derek is concerned he asked a question privately and I used my
Ancestry.co.uk membership to look up the 1901 census for him, which was
the
basis of his comment.
With kind regards. Hope all is well with you and yours ........ Erica
