Hello Derek,
Thanks for the contact, much appreciated indeed.
No doubt Erica will reply in time on this one if she has the information as
you suspect but I know she is pretty much flat out on other things at the
moment but will doubtless get around to it when she can.
If the Charles in question is indeed the son of James Charles Catley, then
1916 looks to be a very sad year for that family because from that which I
have gleaned from Chris Newalls database, it looks as if a James C.Catley
died then as did Charles, ie father and son?
Regards Tim

Hello Tim,
Seeing this request to Liz I'd like to throw in my two bob's worth. I
think
Charles may be the son of James Charles Catley & Eliza Hornsby. I
couldn't
find him on the 1901 census, probably because I didn't widen my search,
however Erica Hills did. If I am right his birth reference is J1877
Greenwich 1d 833, I haven't got the certificate, but he features on the
1881
& 1891 census. In '91 he was a Errand Boy in Bermondsey, in
1901 a Piano
Tuner lodging in Exeter. There is a year or two between birth dates & a
slight difference in birth place from Deptford to New Cross, but
practically
the same place, they adjoin, as does Greenwich. If he is one &
the same he
is my wife's first cousin once removed, a line I haven't researched much
Regards
Derek Miller
