Hi All,
I have long wondered whether James Cattley of Scarborough was one of my
elusive relatives buthave never found a connection.
In the 1881 CensusJames is living at 58, Eastborough Scarborough,Yorks
with
his daughter as Tim said , Mary Jane Temple ,a mariners wife, and her
6
daughter and a son John E Temple aged 1.
Census ref is RG11 4805/73 page 25 on FamilySearch. James is shown as born
in Kinnington Lincs but I think that this should be Kirmington .
James' son James William Cattley is also found in Scarborough at 5
Trafalgar St. East with his wife Rachel age29y born Ayten (probably nearby
Ayton)plus two daughters and a son Harold Mayne Catley (sic). Census ref
is
RG11 4802/73 page 2
James son Joseph Long bottom Catley is a Railway Labourer in Stranton
Durham
in 1881 (Modern West Hartlepool) with wife Hannah age 41y born
Middlesbrough
plus two daughters and a son also called James William Catley age 18y
Census
ref is RG11 4911/73 page 7
Hope this is some use to somebody. Regards Dave Barker

their

Cattley is back living at the same address along with James.W.H
Cattley
aged
9 their youngest issue as well as Mary Jane (now married, sir name
Temple)
and not forgetting Jemima.

Jane are recorded as marrying and later their children are all also
recorded
under the name Catley not Cattley. The name change to Cattley seems
only
to
refer to the Census records.
