David/John,
Glad that you have responded. With the exception of Kay Heath also, nearly
all the traffic on Catley has related to genealogical events in the South
and SouthWest of the UK whereas you and I know that there is an equal wealth
of Catley historical discoveries to be made in the Lincolnshire and
Yorkshire areas also.
My own tree growth is scattered between Leeds and Hull with branches going
down to London as well by the mid 1700's but I note that from the BMD
Registrations from 1840's onwards that there are numerous "unknown Catley
events" that occur in the same Yorks/Lincs districts time and again.
Such regularity of events indicate just how many parallel Catley Lines were
in existance up there. I have only scratched the surface by making contact
with others in that area who answer to Cattley and have built up the
beginnings of another four trees from their replies but add the root Catley
name into the equasion and we have a potential research base which is at
least equal to or possibly exceeds those of the "South"?
Places such as Malton.
Newton-Le-Willows.Easingwold.Hunslet.York.Pontefract.Skirklaugh.WakefieldWet
herby.Hull.Tadcaster.Leeds.Sculcoates etc pay testimony to this.
How many listers are there on line who have an interest in "Northern
Catleys"?
Regards ................... Tim
