Hello Kay,
Just doing a bit of catching up on back e-mails and have lost the plot as to
where we are re above.
As you have probably seen ex Chris Newalls e-mails,he has now put my Coveney
B's and M's, ex Kew Registers for Cattley on his web site (thanks Chris) and
I really must get down to doing the deaths as well, asap.
I have re established contact with a Gerald and Gillian Cattley from
Staffordshire who are descendants of William Cattley of Leeds born Kirk
Deighton 1848 which as you may recall, is one of those "mini Cattley Trees"
from Yorkshire which you showed an interest in given that you intend to do
some researches in Leeds Archives later this spring ( your previous comments
about British cold winters are especially poignant at the moment as we are
in a real freeze here) and they have indicated an interest in hearing of
your intended work outcome.
As you are also well aware there is a small clutch of Cat*ley Trees that all
stem from the Leeds side of Yorkshire that we collectively have some
knowledge of and for my part, I give you the following "key names"
representing the earliest known people in each case:-
Tree Name Key Name other details
William of Leeds William Cattley born Kirk Deighton
02/06/1848
m
Selena Varley in Leeds 30/06/1870
d
Leeds 5 generations to date.
Herbert of Leeds Herbert Cattley Probably b
Wakefield 1865
Probably m Wakefield 1887 to Mary Ann
5 children all born Leeds. First certain confirmed issue is Ernest b 1894
who married Clarice Creaser. 5 generations to date
William of Tadcaster William Cattley b 05/07/1827
Tadcaster
m19/02/1855 Tadcaster to Fanny Cattley
6
children all born in York, first known issue is Walter Robert
b
06/05/1856 m Annie Tupman 1887.
5
generations to date. Family spread out with BMD's in
Doncaster,Bradford, and Hull in E Yorks.
John of Barton le Willows. John Cattley b probably 1844 m
Eliza?
7
children starting with Annie possibly b 1882.
Not
much known about this one, I have structure by name over 3
generations but BMD's look to be East Riding not West, in such places
such as Easingwold, Buckrose, Bulmer and Malton.
John Catley of Seacroft. John Catley m Catherine Dawson
1820. His grandchildren plus his son Thomas b 1830
who
m Ann Simpson all emigrated to Pennsylvania circa 1870 to work in the
coal
mines over there. Name change to Cattley in UK circa 1860
Stevan of Normanton This is my own
Tree = Stevan Catlay of Normanton m Elizabeth Jube in
Normanton in1609. I have 2 grandsons of Stevan. Edmonde Catlay b 1642
and
Stevan Catlay b 1646 in Normanton who are "gotaways" in research
terms. Their younger brother John b Normanton 1651 moved and married in
Bramham in1678 and founded my Tree as we know it today. Any pickup on
Stevan2 or Edmonde would be appreciated.
All the others are from "live leads" from current living members of the
trees in question who have given me all the back date info that they have
and are happy for me to do research on, on their behalf. It is encouraging
that such people are happy to place trust in another when most people today
seem totally wrapped up in covering their own course and are so suspicious
of genuine offers of assistance from other quarters. Did I give you Marges
data for Pennsylvania Cattleys? I can not remember Kay.
Do keep me updated, Cheers ............. Tim

Tim,
Have you put your information on the Cat*ley page?? from your Tree?
I take it that the handwritten
lists you have copies of from Gerald and Betty, (because they haven't
been typed up) cannot be put on the Page.
I would be very happy to type
them up so that all Cat*leys can benefit from having them accessible.
