Hello Liz,
I have mixed feelings re Genes Connected.
The web site is fine and runs well and should be an asset. Indeed I have
intercepted three distaff queries thereon re Cattley and managed to assist
persons who are obviously genuine and attached to my own Tree who have given
me solid links, in which case I had no hesitation in giving them the start
that they were looking for.
In these cases I have learned quite a lot re my distaff female Tree
marriages without really trying!
In the main however, I find that most persons advertising on it are doing so
as their first entry into their genealogy without any previous experience.
Nothing wrong in that of course but do not expect too much.
Another thing, if you reply to an "advert" you do so simply on name, date
and location. Once having sent your response, only then are you given the
details as to who you have communicated with!
Anyway give it a go, you may well strike lucky.
Regards ............ Tim

Subject: Genes connected
Hi Tim,
Yesturday I managed to update my Fry family tree by adding my stepdads
family so
have entered the basics on the Catley side.
A while ago you mentioned about people putting their tree on Genes
Connected and that maybe they didnt belong to the Roots listing.
Have you been in touch with any of these people or do you know who
they
are. I'm just wondering whether its worth sending them an email to recrute
them. Only there seems to be some interesting ones on there with both types
of spelling, although not mixed spelling if you know what I mean.
Let me know your views
Liz
