Dear all
The archivist at Christchurch College, Oxford, has been able to find out
few references to Catleys having been granted copyholds for their manor
of Midsomer Norton. She has kindly promised to scan the images for me in
due course, but in the meantime has sent brief details as follows.
12/11/1784 James Catley, for his life, that of his sister Betty and
Joshua Catley.
Valuation of 1686;
Robert Catley, and Robert Coombe of Chewton, have a copyhold granted in
1672.
John Catley for his life and that of Thomas and John his sons.
Hannah Catley inherited a copyhold from her father Thomas that was
granted in 1654.
Regards
Andrew
PS If there are any other direct female line descendants of Eliza Anne
Catley, nee Ford, and James Catley, they might be interested to kinow
that I've recently had my mitochondrial DNA analysed and been allocated
to U2e1e.
