Whilst my "world project" to identify each and every Catley listed is
progressing quite well, I have a collection of unidentified individuals from each of the
eight UK enumerations which are proving a bit of a challenge.
I have a crack at them from time to time when I get bored inputting new data into my
spreadsheet with different amounts of success.
Am using Ancestry as my main resource and am heartily fed up with the hundreds, yes
hundreds of transcription errors therein and the morbid repetition of such basic
reoccuring errors such as inability to differentiate between an old style capital O and a
capital C thus happily turning an enumerated Oatley into Catley.
As for my UK census "inidentified enumerations" which average about 45 for each
census year, I expect that at least some of them are name transfer mistakes. I intend to
look at them more closely in time but if any Lister wants to have a go and see if they can
identify any of them, will happily send an extract.
Am not expecting people to fall over in the rush to help me as it is a tedious and
unrewarding exercise but if any of you feel like dabbling a bit during coffee break asides
etc, I would appreciate any assistance.
Regards
Tim
