Tim, I have performed a similar exercise but Ellen has eluded me. Do the York and
Wakefield Ellens appear in either census? Anthony

Anthony,
I take it that you also have not been able to find any ref to Ellen on the
1901 Cens as well as the 1911 one?
I have tried as many alternatives for Cat*ley under Ellen//Helen etc plus Oakley and just
in case, Aspital but to no avail.
Tim

Tim, They found an extract from the register on FamilySearch. It is
for the baptism of Hilda Catley (one t) on 7 May 1903 at Kettering;
mother Ellen; father not given. This fits too well to be a
coincidence. They had also found the marriage of Ellen Cattley to
Vernon Aspital. This is from the BMD records not the church register.
I cannot find Ellen in the 1911 census. Anthony

Anthony,
I do not recall getting a reply about an identification of an Ellen
Catley as the mother of Hilda.
This may be to do with my Fujitsu protection system which is sensitive
but does not to my knowledge block bona fide emails.

his
1901 cens return aged 29 and also Ellen Aspinal's death in 1963 aged
abt 83.
Not clear therefore as to Jocelyn's identification of an Ellen CaTley
as Hilda's mother as from freebmd there would seem to be nobody as a
likely contender however there are a few "spare" Ellen CaTTley's that
might fit What name was Ellen using for the 1911 cens ? Can't locate
her.
Regards
Tim
