Hi All,
Hi All,
This enquiry from Brett was sent to me privately but I have no
details apart from the fact that they are Stephen Wildman CATTLEYs
descendants.
Please respond to Brett directly as he is not on either of the CAT(L)EY lists.
Cheers.... Erica

Dear Erica, Mandy and/or Duncan,
I found a mention of George Byrom Shallcross on your web pages, here:

and here:
and wondered if you had a close connection to him, or whether you are
in touch with someone who might.
I am unrelated, but have interests in both family history and old
photographs, so when an old Victorian photo of a young boy identified
on the reverse as George Byrom Shallcross popped up in an old album
that I purchased recently, I googled the name and came up with your
site. According to information on the web page mentioned above, he
married Ethel Laura KEMBLE, daughter of Charles Adams KEMBLE
(1846-1916) and Laura Rose Sarah HALL, and I discovered using FreeBMD
that this was in late 1902.
Unfortunately, none of the other photos in the album are identified,
but with a knowledge of the extended family it may be possible to
determine who some of them might be. Hence my email to you. I have
followed G.B . SHALLCROSS's family back through the census and birth
registration indexes, so have a fairly clear picture of that family.
I am currently going through all of the photos to create an index of
locations and approximate dates, which may also help in the
identification. It is my initial estimate, however, that the bulk of
the photos were taken in the 1860s and 1870s, with perhaps a few in
the 1880s. The only other obvious clue to identities is in a printed
card, slightly smaller than today's business cards, probably a
visiting card, which reads, " W.P. Roberts," loose in the front of
the album. Of course, it may have little or nothing to do with the photographs.
I look forward to hearing from you.
Regards and best wishes,
Brett Payne

P.S. Don't be led astray by the New Zealand address - the album came
from the UK.
