Hello Kay (M)
Realise that I made a typo error which may have confused you in that I spelt
my earliest known ancestor incorrectly.
He was Stevan Catlay (note the use of the letter (a) where today we would
use an (e) instead) and that spelling carried on
for a couple of generations in my Tree before going through Catley for one
generation before finally settling on Cattley by around 1710.
That said, am appreciative that you have found the transcript interesting
from an historical perspective as to how influential British business was to
Tzarist Russia in the 17/1800's. I have just found information that links
British Sugar production in the West Indies in the late 1700's as a trade
commodity via the UK to Russia and there are ref's here to Cattley Merchant
involvement as well.
My download copy of the Karttunen Report contained a break in the e-mail
address which I faithfully reproduced but from your comments was obviously
an error which I should have spotted when it failed to turn blue from black
in my text when I typed it up last night to send out to the List. Many
thanks for correcting the error and broadcasting the proper contact.
Regards Tim.

Hi Tim
I don't think my branch descended from Stavan Catley in 1609, but out of
historical interest I've just been looking at the transcript and found it
really interesting.
The link you sent has a break in it so I was unable to reach the pdf, I
found it by googling the title and have pasted the link below.

Thank you again.
best wishes
