Hello Kay,
You may recall me saying when we met in Shrewsbury, that I had done quite a bit of Cattley
research back in the 1980's (pre computer) using the UK National Telephone Directories
and snail mail method and had thus written to all 57 names that were listed ... minus
those of my own Tree.
From the responses obtained, I managed to flesh out another seven Cattley mini Trees
apart from my own.
Unfortunately, although most were happy to communicate with me and supply what they knew
of their own genealogy, none were sufficiently interested to do any basic research
themselves.
Have kept in touch with most of them "just incase" the mood changes and the
genealogy bug bites!
One, who lives in Leeds and has popped up on my own e-mail list is rather horrified to
hear that you had a wasted trip last year to the Leeds Archives and has volunteered his
assistance.
I think he has absolutely no idea what he is getting himself into by indicating a
willingness to assist so I would ask you to treat him kindly and take a few short steps at
a time.
However, having said that he is a Cat(t)ley and lives in the Leeds area and could be a
valuable resource in the long term.
I am sending you his full name and e-mail address via your own account rather than
broadcasting it here, being mindful of the questions re security that you raised a week or
so ago now and to which I also note, that there have been no comments by any other listers
which surprises me.
Regards TimC
