Ref Micks reply to David concerning John George Catley and Sarah Price
Catley:-
I note that John George's second daughter's name was Amy Bowden Catley.
Presumably we all agree that in many instances, the inclusion of either a
second or maybe a third Christian name is to associate with a maternal
family link? Bowden is surely an example of this but a pretty uncommon name
like ours?
If true, then what the chances of Bowdens marrying into the Cat*ley lines??
There is a Joseph Henry Bowden Catley listed as born Lambeth (London) in
1841 and I have both a Bowden and a Frederick Bowden plus a Doris Bowden and
Gwendoline Bowden Cattley on my own tree.
I know nothing about the J.H.Bowden Catley but the Cattley ones represent
three generations in direct descent which stem from Yorkshire and involve a
cousin marriage via one of my clan who moved from Yorkshire and set up
business in London and lived in Clapham and married a Frances Jones from
Clapham in 1796.
I can not see any other reasons for the Bowden name inclusion other than
through the "Clapham connection" via Frances.
Is this all just a state of coincidence or is there a three way connection
missing here?
Erica, what do you know about Bowden's?
Regards to all on the list, Tim.
