Thanks Tim, I remain interested. Where on earth was the glassworks,
that enabled them to make so many changes to the bottle, I wonder?
It would cost a fortune these days.

Quoting Tim Cattley <timjhcat(a)tiscali.co.uk>:
Hello all,
Just to let those of you know, who asked me to find them a "Catley
Abbey" bottle, that I have not forgotten and am gaining them slowly
but surely.
The most common type is a dumpy little bottle about 5 inches tall
(125mm) which contains around 7 fluid ounces (200 ML) and comes in
many different shades of brown from dark amber to a very pale almost
straw shade and indeed I also have one which is a light green colour.
There must have been quit a few molds used because as yet, I do not
have two the same in terms of shape, as well as colour and their
heights vary also. This despite the fact that some carry the same
5108 stamp number on their base.
There also seems to be three different versions of the embossed
abbey design on the front of the bottle.
There is also a much larger bottle commonly known as a codd but
these seem to be much more difficult to obtain and as yet I have not
been successful in this quest.
Have not yet amassed the total quantity needed to provision all the
requests but am over half way there now. Will keep you posted.
Regards Timcatt
