Hello everybody,
Bernie C writes telling me that he is still working on catching up with other relations
of his Australian Catley Tree which is not proving as easy as he hoped but that he has
been contacted quite recently by a distaff line member who is proving most useful in
filling some of the gaps for him.
He reminds me however that he is still stuck and can not get a lead connection with his
English Catley roots here in the UK.
All he knows is that his G X4 grandfather, Thomas Catley was transported to Australia in
1837 for some minor offence having been committed at Bath Assizes (it was Bath, Bernie and
not Bristol?) at a quite young age. Bernie thinks he was born in either 1818 or 1820.
The thought is that Thomas was probably a member of the Somerset Norton Catleys by
proximity association but Bernie has nothing by way of evidence as Thomas left no written
records as to his origins.
Can those of you who are researching the Midsomer Norton Catleys please consider Bernies
plea for assistance and see if you can identify this Thomas for him?
Cheers Tim C
