Yes Kay,
I think that 1421 takes the record at present and I do not think that the
reversal of the e and l has any bearing on it.
Have been reminded that Gerald Coveney indicated that he had come across
some Muster Rolls which also quoted Catley and were reported as being circa
early 1400's but they were not for Suffolk, that I do recall.
Gerald died in 1992 I think (or '93) and I must check back in his letters to
identify which Archive he found it in. I suspect it was Lincs or Notts but
not sure, it was certainly Eastern Counties somewhere.
Will check and report back asap.
