Hi,
I have been checking the Catley messages for some time and finally found one
I was related to.
Eleanor Catley, S. S. Parisian was my gr. grandmother. Her maiden name was
Bolton, she was married to Mark Catley (he was on the same ship). They also
were accompanied by Mark's sister, Charity Catley. Mark & Charity were both
born in Midsomer Norton. Mark & Eleanor had 2 sons in London - both of them
died in infancy. They had 2 more sons in Canada - both of them left
descendents here.

Hello everybody,
Have been contacted by a person studying his Stewart ancestry who has
discovered that they sailed on the SS Parisian arriving in Halifax N.S. on
14th April 1882.
He has discovered that an Eleanor Catley was a passenger on the same
crossing and asks if I know if she was part of an emigration scheme because
he wishes to find out who it was who arranged the Stewarts voyage?
I can only see two Eleanor Catleys in the BMD's: one b 1855 Stepney and
the other b 1878 in Thanet. Does anybody lay claim to either Eleanor and
know the circumstances?
One thing I have discovered from my own Tree history is that because
specific ships sailings to the USA for example were known to be carrying a
content of emigration passengers, whole ships passenger lists are often
offered up as wholly emigrant one way sailings which can be misleading.
If anybody knows about Eleanor Catley, please do let me know.
Regards
Timcatt
