OK Ros,
I have responded to these comments separately.
That apart: coincidences are strange things. I have just been looking at
some hand written family tree notes from the 1920's all yellow with age and
written in non fountain pen and ink. These come from another branch of my
tree (known as The Ealing Cattleys) where I was trying to confirm a link
with the ROPES family.
And what do I discover? a ref to James Tennant m Harriet Cattley which may
be of use to you in a clue, only a few words but might be just what you are
looking for :- HARRIET m JAMES TENNANT OF LEEDS - SON OF Rev SANDERSON
TENNANT.
The jottings continue and give the names of six issue from James and
Harriet's marriage.
Interestingly my Cattley Tree books written and researched by Frank Moberly
give nine names as the issue from James and Harriet but in both cases they
include a Sanderson Tennant obviously named after the childs grandfather.
Hope this helps
Timcatt

Yes Tim. I have accessed all your information about Harriet and also

his
brother but cannot get back any t be able to h which is annoying. As
the
Cattley site is so good and knowledgeable I thought you might be able to
help me with the deputy lieutenant. Thanks. Ros

Hello Ros,
I have your 13 page spread of data on the James Tennant m Harriet Cattley
and thus assumed that
you knew that the Harriet in question belongs to my (and Ericas') Cattley
family tree?
She bapt 1766 London (St Clements) and m James Tennant of Leeds and Kippax
in 1791.
She was one of 11 children born to Stephen Cattley who m Ann(Frances
Maria)
Bode at St Michaels, Crooked La,London in 1754.
Stephen went to London from Yorkshire as a young man and made his fortune
there. He became a Merchant and property dealer, founding the company
Hardcastle&Cattley with trading houses in London and St Petersburg. He
also
lived in property within the City of London but had other properties
in
Islington (London) Westbury (Essex, I think) and Kippax (Yorks). He died
at
and was buried in, Kippax in 1797.
I have a Conveyance on velum, dated April 1805 regarding the sale of some
cottages and land from Stephens estate in Kippax and the trustee
signatures
include both James Tennant and his wife Harriet.
Apart from your work, the only alternative data source is from one Frank
Moberly and he only followed the Tennant line back up some two generations
from the Tennant/Cattley marriage and has no more to offer than that which
you already know.
Erica may have some input on the Tennant side as to what their family
circumstances were.
Regards Timcatt
