Hello Liz,
Good to hear from you once more, thought you had gone to earth for the
winter!
Not good on the Benjamin Catley front I am afraid:-
Nothing on my Tree and nothing that fits dates-wise for a circa 1805 birth
for any of the other Cat*ley Trees data that I have.
Benjamin does not appear to have been a popular name in any Cat*ley clan.
There is the odd ref on the Anstey Cat*ley Tree but at mid 1700's that's too
early for your search. Likewise for an East End of London Catley line.
Am sure you have already checked the LDS files for 1805 +/- 5 years or so
and all they tell us is that there was a Benjamin Cately b 1800 in Sheffield
and a Benjamin Catly b 1801 in Hull.
The inference is therefore that presumably he was born in the USA, after all
he would have only been 15 years old at the time of the 1830 census?
Sorry I can not help further.
Regards Tim

Hi Tim,
I have just recieved census info for Benjamin Catley b abt 1805 living in
New York
at the time of the 1830 census. He is also listed on the 1850
census. In 1850 he has a Joseph aged 71 with him and 2 children Henry J aged
13 and Ellen aged 15 but he has moved to Mississipi. He cant be found on the
1840 census and the reason could be that his 2 children where born in
Canada.
Do you have any details within your lists for these people. Only if
he is
my Benjamin it would make Joseph his Uncle from Lincs brother of Thomas.
Cheers
Liz
